Creep Through
Why do the ants come in out of the rain?
They live underground it's gotta be out of their way.
Why did your memory call me up today to say,
You never loved me, anyway?
Maybe you and the ants should get together,
Stay out of my life and scavenge for whatever.
I can't get through you.
You're too small for me to think through.
I'm gonna put on my ripple-soled shoes,
To make more space for you to creep through.
Two motorcycles driving in my mirror,
Unsuspecting my four-cylinder which they should fear.
I just might be their death today because,
I have forgotten how to drive the freeway.
My signals are working, and my brakes are ok,
But my head's about four hundred miles away.
I can't get through you.
My head's getting smaller, just thinking this through.
I'm gonna put on my ripple-soled shoes,
To make more space for you to creep through.
The day's almost over but it's never really begun.
I've been working real hard on getting things undone.
Now that it's over, I don't think I mind,
If I ever figure out what was actually mine.
I won't put your picture back in its box,
I'm kind of hoping it gets permanently lost.
I can't get through you.
You're too small for the memories of you.
I'm gonna put on my ripple-soled shoes,
To make more space for you to creep through.
